Part 1, Lesson 1
Focus: To examine the scriptures concerning the unity of the LORD God
Gen 2:4 (LORD, Yahweh, Gen 4:1, 26) ([serpent] God, elohim Gen 3:1) (Gen 15:2 adonai Yahweh, Lord GOD)
  1. Moses declared to the children of Israel that the LORD God is one.
  1. The Shema -- the declaration of deity as one (Deuteronomy 6)
Whom did Moses charge with teaching the statutes of God?
Who was to learn those statutes?
Whom were they to teach those statutes?
What were they do when they heard this teaching of God?
  • Where did that successive teaching originate?
  • Who followed next with that successive teaching? Next? Next?
  • What does this teaching of the word of God reveal about God?


  1. Jesus prayed that the disciples would be one.

The deity of Jesus / The indwelling of deity in Jesus



Part 1, Lesson 2

Focus: To examine the scriptures on how deity dwelt in Jesus



  1. The LORD dwelt among Israel (Exodus 29:45, Leviticus 26:11, II Samuel 7:5-7)

  • God (Genesis 1, Elohim)
  • LORD God (Genesis 2, YaHWeH Elohim)
  • Deuteronomy 6:4, YaHWeH Elohim YaHWeH
  • Lord GOD (Ezekiel 34:11, adonai YaHWeH, John 10:11)


  1. The claim of Jesus that, “I am in the Father” and “The Father is in me.” is being “one with the Father.” (Jn 14:11, 17:21, 22, 10:30)

  1. How does Jesus substantiate this claim to the disciples?

The manifestation of God
Part 1, Lesson 3
Focus:  The work of the Father before the foundation of the world.

Fulfillment:  The work of the Son to explain God (John 1:18).
Affirmation:  The work of the Holy Spirit to preserve the work of God.

Who is that is speaking? v2
Whom is He against?  V10
What does He say he will do for his flock? V10
Who is He going to send to this for his flock?  V11

The Good Shepherd (John 10)

Focus: An examination of I Corinthians 14

The objective nature of the gifts of tongues and prophecy
Pursue, desire and what is needed (v1)
1. What makes the gift of prophecy superior to tongues?
Understanding (v2) which results in ________, ________, and

Who prophesies? ______ and _________ (Acts 2:17, I Corinthians

2. Why does the speaker of tongues speak to God and not men (v2)?

The Father

Part 2, Lesson 5
Focus: The Father is working still.

The Father purposed what the Son was to fulfill.
What the Son fulfilled, the Holy Spirit affirmed. (Ephesians 1)

My Father is working.
I Myself am working. (John 5:17)

Why does the Father work?
Because like our daily bread, 1) I have need of his word, 2) I have need of his reassurance, and 3) I have need to glorify his name.

The Father knows what I need before I ask. (Matthew 6:8)

The Father responds to what I ask of Him. (Matthew 18:19)

The Father gives those who come to Him to the Son. (John 6:37)

The Father loves me. (John 6:27)

The Son

Part 2, Lesson 6
Focus: Fulfilling the righteousness of God.

He fulfills what the Father purposed before the foundation of the world.

I know the righteous acts of God to do them: do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly before your God (Micah 6:8).

I not only know the righteous acts of God and have done the righteous acts of God, but I have become the righteousness of God (II Corinthians 5:17).

What now?

Focus: He affirms what the Son has fulfilled in accordance with the will of the Father.

The Gift of the Holy Spirit in the believer

The gift of the Holy Spirit (John 14:17)
1.       Who was with us when we first learned about Jesus?
2.       Who is in us since we learned of Jesus and committed our lives in obedience to him?

The responsibility and blessing of these gifts is to interpret, to edify and to know, not for ourselves only, but for those who hear us and whom we teach.
